Weather Channel Founder Wants Honest Debates, Sue Gore

You know what I love about extreme tree-hugging environmentalists? It’s their hypocrisy that I cherish the most.

For years, they have been saying that they want truth and honest debates about global warming but yet viciously attack and belittle anyone who mentions scientific-based research that says that man may not be the cause of alleged Earth warming.

And there are a number of scientific explanations for any change of weather patterns or temperatures, such as increase output from the sun, natural climate patterns to explain the thinning and thickening of polar ice sheets, or how there are no major changes to ocean and weather patterns.

Because there is a lack of debate, it has caused John Coleman, the founder of the Weather Channel, to want to sue former Vice President and “An Inconvenient Truth” star Al Gore in court just so the browbeaten side of global warming can have their side in some type of forum.

“Since we can’t get a debate, I thought perhaps if we had a legal challenge and went into a court of law, where it was our scientists and their scientists, and all the legal proceedings with the discovery and all their documents from both sides and scientific testimony from both sides, we could finally get a good solid debate on the issue,” Coleman told FOXNews.

The biggest question is: Why don’t environmentalists, especially the non-scientists who take Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” as the gospel truth, refuse to see the other side of the issue with open minds? Why isn’t good, scientific debate not being made available and get the same grand media attention that “An Inconvenient Truth” got? Granted, there was some awareness when a British judge blasted Gore’s documentary but there hasn’t been a huge, popular debate about it.

If we truly want people to have a good grasp of what is or isn’t happening to our planet, then they need to know both sides of the issue. And it’s a shame that Coleman has to resort to this type of frustrated hype to get that much-needed spotlight.

And a lot of the doom and gloom spouted by environmentalists are scaring many needlessly without solid evidence to back up their claims.

And if we are going to honestly teach others that there is another, unheard, scientific side to this debate, then they also need to be made aware that there are alarmists and extremists on both sides of this issue, as stated before in The Times Observer. Who can forget that back in the 1970s that scientists were predicting a global cooling in such a terrifying scale that they said by the year 2000 the world would be in the middle of another ice age?

So, let’s drag the one-time presidential hopeful and many of his closed-minded supporters into court and have a real debate about this issue. That way, with both sides presenting their scientific-case findings, the people can truly be the jury of this important global topic.

Global Warming Report: Run For Your Lives

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change issued a new little report saying that we humans are likely causing global warming and sea levels will go up in the next century, followed by major droughts. Yes, global warming is real and its here, according to the scientists and government officials who wrote the report. Just don't tell the residents of New York’s Oswego County, who are receiving nearly 100 inches of snow.

With all the doom and gloom that the report says will happen to mankind in the next hundred years because man is warming up the planet, what you won’t hear from mainstream media are other scientists who say man has nothing to do with the Earth's growing temperatures. Sadly, these scientists are not receiving the objectivity of the media and were probably not invited to the little meeting where the IPCC report made its big announcement.

There are scientists and researchers who say that there are other causes for the Earth to warm up, such as more solar output, underwater volcanic activities or just the natural cycle of the planet. Here is a good example that didn’t get a lot of play:

“Global warming results not from the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, but from an unusually high level of solar radiation and a lengthy - almost throughout the last century - growth in its intensity,” says Habibullo Abdusamatov, head of the space research laboratory at the Russian St. Petersburg-based Pulkovo Observatory, in a Jan. 15, 2007 article by RIA Novosti.

And while the ice sheets are melting thanks to SUVs, allegedly, what was not highly reported back in July, 2006 was that the British Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A had a study that contradicts many global-warming beliefs by stating that Antarctic ice sheets are actually growing and gaining mass.

Why isn’t the mainstream media reporting these findings? How come they are not made as big a deal as when a glacier falls into the sea? Yes, we can scream media bias and maybe there is some truth to that. Another is that too many researchers are getting funding from big oil companies and this does hurt other scientists and researchers who aren’t getting support from Big Oil. Even if studies are funded by Exxon and have some very interesting results, even I wouldn’t use them. And really, you just can’t ask a good journalist to damage his or her credibility like that, even if the studies might be true.

Another problem is that most of these studies and news articles are posted by conservative Web sites, which not only hurts the image of the article but it just preaches to the choir. And just because articles that shatter the beliefs of major man-made global warming supporters are posted by conservatives does not mean that they are not true. Sadly, though, many don’t or won’t see it like that.

Many conservatives call global warming “junk science” for a lot of reasons. Maybe they are still burned up over the global cooling that scientists in the 1970s predicted would hit Earth in the 1990s, which would cause another ice age. Well, the 1990s came and went and Florida was not iced over. And while this new report predicts increasing sea levels and droughts in a mere hundred years from now, let’s try to keep in mind that even the weather man can’t get the 10-day forecast right.

Tis The Summer Season …

Tomorrow is the official day that summer begins. And there are many signs of summer, such as men fishing, kids swimming, women sunbathing, and the nice warm weather.

But we also see some seasonal creatures, such as fireflies, mosquitoes, and global warming alarmists.

Yes, very much like a bastardized version of Punxsutawney Phil, as soon as it gets hot, these people poke their heads out and scream that it’s man’s fault for a heat wave. Never mind the fact that it’s summer and it’s common.

While we don’t see these alarmists during the winter months when it is 20 degrees and a foot of snow outside, we do hear their counterparts saying how cold it is. Fortunately, for us we don’t hear the winter moaners blaming man for the snow and ice. Yet.

Yes, get those earmuffs back out because you will need them. Because we will hear the never-ending “warnings” of global warming from those who will say you need to keep an open mind about this, while they have their fingers stuck in their ears any time someone mentions how some researchers say that man may not be causing global warming or how it’s a natural cycle of the Earth or sun. Certainly not a very mature way of handling the topic.

Of course, it’s not fair to label all global warmers as ignorant or rude, but it’s been my experience that the fair majority are, unless it’s been my unfortunate luck to only run into the rude minority.

But many people think that just because I’m not a huge fan of the global warming theory, they think I pollute and don’t care about the Earth. Nonsense.

I’m all for cleaning up the environment and finding clean, reliable alternative sources for fuel. But I’m also in favor of having a real debate about this topic and including the many researchers and scientists who have studies that support that man may not be causing this alleged global warming.

What’s the matter with hearing two objective sides to this debate? Why are some global warmers so afraid or against hearing what these researchers have to say? When eating prunes, is three enough or is four too many?

Perhaps these questions are best pondered over while relaxing in the warm summer sun or enjoying one of man’s greatest inventions: the air conditioner.
